Went on Monday at 9pm bc I was craving custard filled taiyaki on my birthday! The store was playing upbeat popular hip hop and reggaeton music which made for a fun vibe, and the place was well lit. My taiyaki was done very quickly! Only thing is that my taiyaki itself was a bit raw which created a doughy texture... but lowkey I liked it. It tasted like a mochi waffle consistency which rules!! My siblings also got ice cream with the ahboong cone, and they also enjoyed their flavors. Would go back again if I have another craving (:

The softserve here is so creamy and thick I love it. All the flavors I've tried were delicious esp the melon one. I'm so glad they open here in mission Bay.

This place is great and consistently delicious. Staff could be friendlier but ehh, I'm just going there for ice cream so it's not big deal lol

It's too bad they don't offer samples. On my recent visit they had sweet corn and honeydew as their seasonal flavors. They also had a honeydew and ube twist which I thought would be a weird combo. Wish they had honeydew and matcha twist instead. I've noticed they get really busy on Friday nights so I came on a Saturday around 2pm. You can order at the kiosk for faster service. There was only 1 employee working the front. I tried the honeydew in a cup - $4.50 and I really liked it. You could really taste the honeydew flavor. You get a choice of several toppings for free such as cereal, matcha powder, sprinkles, etc) and as always, a strawberry or macaron. The soft serve is thick and creamy. They also have a water fountain but their cups are a bit too small.

I can't believe this is my first time here after knowing about it for so long. Came after a Chase Center event to kill time before calling an Uber. I felt bad that there was only one worker while the place got filled, but he was pretty efficient! We got the black sesame soft serve in a taiyaki cone and the matcha ube swirl in a cup. I love that the flavors were not too sweet and super creamy. I also liked that there were free toppings, the matcha powder definitely stepped up the game. The portions were pretty big compared to other places and the taiyaki was good. A solid soft serve spot that did not disappoint! The water and hand washing station were super useful as well.

Craving a sweet treat so we made the trek into the city. I figured parking would be easier here than in San Mateo, and it was closer too. Located less than a block from Spark Social. Street parking if you're lucky. Very clean location, you can either order from the kiosk or at the register. Rotation of ice cream flavors, D1 was excited for the Jeon Somi collab and immediately ordered the guava upside down ahboong with custard. We also ordered the 5 taiyaki... made to order, fresh and hot. We got matcha custard, 2 red bean, and 2 custard. First time trying the matcha custard and I am definitely a fan. We will be heating the leftovers in the air fryer. Glad to know it's there now and convenient, as long as there's no events happening at Chase Center or a Baseball Game.

It's good to try something different when it comes to desserts or soft serve. Different styles come with different cultures, but I eat just how I like it. Somisomi was a brand new addition in Mission Bay, which was a block next to Spark Social. Of course, this Asian owned soft-serve parlor has three separate locations: San Mateo, Palo Alto, and San Jose. How do I like my Ahboong? The same way everyone had pictured their own, a fishlike taiyaki waffle that served as a night cap to place over the peak of the soft serve on a cup. It's been long enough that I get to see how Koreans have come up with such an amazing idea to make soft serve ice cream their fro-yo way. When I came towards Somisomi, I could've sworn that I saw a long line, but upon close inspection, that was just a different business before it. Customization in Somisomi was the best so that I get to choose what flavor I like. If only the cashier shall accept cash the next time I get to visit.
